Lara's first words to mom were 'Hello Sunshine' with her tone, words and smile being instantly comforting.

We had spent a couple of days/nights in the hospital feeling worried for my elderly mom who has dementia and just broke her hip and underwent surgery. She was scared and confused and just wanted to go home. It's no secret this type of patient can be very needy and take a lot of the nurse's time. I know everyone is busy and has many patients to take care of, but like the surgeon said to my mom when she was worried that her family had to work etc... he told her he didn't care about her family he only cared about her. His point was profound and true. She was his patient and priority.

That is what I felt when Nurse Omolara Adegboye (Lara) walked up to my mother's bedside three nights ago. Her first words to mom were 'Hello Sunshine' with her tone, words and smile being instantly comforting. I could visibly see a change in mom. She calmed. Night time is the hardest for her; it was great that Lara had three shifts in a row. She made my mother (and our family) feel like mom was her only patient. I don't know what called Lara to nursing but I am sure glad she answered the call.
