Ornetta has only been a part of OSCU for a short time but already proves to be a valuable team member who exemplifies Novant Health service standards. No matter how overwhelming the day, she always appears calm and has a positive attitude. She's always making team members and patients smile and laugh by cracking jokes to lighten the mood. Time and time again I go into her patient's and family's rooms and she's there sitting on the couch having conversations with patients and families. She takes the time to get to know her patients and they feel comfortable in her presence. During leader rounds patients always "shout out" Ornetta and the care she provides. Sometimes patients can say hurtful things to nurses when they are in pain and experiencing stress but Ornetta just shakes it off and continues providing the best care possible, not taking slights personally and treating everyone equally. We are lucky to have Ornetta as part of our team.
