I can confidently say Paige encompasses all aspects of the DAISY Award criteria. As "team lead" on the critical care unit of St. E, Paige oversaw three nursing students and the students' patients as well. Paige showed compassion every time she entered a patient's room by establishing a nurse-patient relationship with each patient. She comforted patients when they were frightened, educated them when they were confused, and always put their safety at the top of all cares. For one example, she was caring for a stroke patient who wanted to take medications with water instead of applesauce so Paige advocated on this patient's behalf and was able to have the staff RN order thickened liquids to allow the patient to swallow their pills safely.

Paige shows compassion for her peers under her as well. She worked with each peer to pass meds, perform nursing cares, and create shift reports for each patient to submit at the end of clinical shift. A co-worker wrote Paige is the hardest worker I know. She’s constantly studying and doing homework. When we need help, she is right there helping us. She is an amazing student always stressing out about her schooling even though she rocks it. She is a very hard worker, sweet, and amazing student and well deserving of the DAISY Award.
