Paloma puts the needs of her patients first and manages to connect with them on a personal level. Paloma is kind, compassionate, caring, and empathetic with all her patients.
I’ve been at the hospital for four days. I’ve had multiple nice nurses come in and out of the room. However, the one nurse who stood out to me was Paloma. From the moment she came to introduce herself, I could tell she was full of joy and very helpful. She kept my mom and me entertained by talking to us and offering her full help. When she sensed I was nervous about getting blood drawn, she started talking about the show I was watching and started a conversation about Disney with me. I was so distracted and didn’t feel as much pain. She made me feel reassured about my upcoming surgery and provided my mom and me with information to answer all our questions. She went above and beyond, explaining and giving me things I needed, such as what the IV liquid does and putting on SCDs for my legs. She made me feel very welcome and comfortable after not having eaten for the time I’ve been here. I’m happy I got Paloma as one of my nurses, and I do believe she deserves this award. You can tell she is a very happy and compassionate person while doing her job; she truly cares about her patients.

She is a very nice nurse who interacts with you during difficult moments by making you laugh and feel welcomed. She even offered me water even though I wasn’t the patient; I’m the mom of my 19-year-old daughter who has been waiting for surgery for three and a half days. Since my daughter hasn’t been walking much, the nurse connected her to the Vasopress DVT System, which made her feel great. Paloma was very thorough and communicated clearly with us. She answered all of our questions and addressed any doubts we had. I was amazed by how great a nurse she is. She is polite, happy, and talkative nurse. We need more nurses like her.

She answered all our questions, and she was caring and compassionate. She had an actual conversation with us. She took her time and gave us information that other nurses never provided, for example, what the IV fluids were for. She also gave her some type of leg massager to keep her blood circulating.

Paloma has always prioritized being professional and culturally sensitive to her patients and family members. Some of the nurses have said about her, “she is always willing to take time with the patients and make them feel important”, “she always smiles and provides encouragement and praise to co-workers”, and “she readily offers help even if she is busy too”. Paloma puts the needs of her patients first and manages to connect with them on a personal level. Paloma is kind, compassionate, caring, and empathetic with all her patients. She has a passion for helping new moms to breastfeed - encouraging and cheering them on after spending 20 minutes manually expressing a few drops of colostrum to finger feed the baby. Paloma displays genuine concern and advocacy for her patients by going above and beyond to meet their needs at their level of understanding.
