Penny has dedicated her career to Marshalltown for 30 years. She has shared that the desire to care for people started at a very early age. She has thought of no other profession besides nursing. This nomination is a confirmation of that desire. She certainly gives her patients her all and consistently goes the extra mile to ensure they are well cared for. Many have appreciated her dedication to this hospital, her family and this community. Below is the letter that was submitted to nominate Penny for the DAISY Award:
My husband was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia, being discharged 4 days later. My husband received excellent care and there is one nurse that stood out amongst all the others and that is Penny Hoffman. Every time and I mean every time, she came into his room, she always had a genuine smile and her eyes lit up as she was truly glad to see you. She has a quick wit and we absolutely loved her anecdotes. She was always encouraging and compassionate about my husband's well-being. My husband states that he wanted to get well to just make her happy! Thank you for the wonderful staff you have in place at the Marshalltown Hospital and thank you for the care my husband received during his stay.
