Patients, waking up in recovery, vary in this process. The ones most in need of an extra calming pair of hands are fortunate to have Phyllis there at their side. Phyllis, is one of our amazing charge nurses, in PACU. She always makes herself available to her team members. She shows great compassion towards those she cares for. Phyllis has the most calming voice and watching her work to help a patient with breathing techniques, to help with pain relief, is amazing. I joke with her about her line management, but find myself using her tricks of the trade. She has been a wonderful mentor, to me, just finishing up my first year here. Phyllis strives to make her team and patients feel welcome and well cared for.
