Rachel was beyond kind, compassionate, and caring.
Role Model Compassionate Care: I am a employee at YNHH, but one day I unfortunately became a patient. I became extremely ill at work and ended up in the ED. As a person who does not get sick often, my symptoms left me feeling scared, tearful, and anxious. Rachel immediately took me into her care and treated me with the most compassionate care I have ever received.
Special Connection: Rachel was beyond kind, compassionate, and caring. She kept assuring me I was going to be okay and comforted me when I was scared and tearful. She went over every question I had in length and checked on me frequently. When more labs were being drawn and I became anxious of the unknown, she pulled up a chair next to me and explained what could be going on and what the plan would be from there on out. How she spoke to and treated me, I felt like I have known her my whole life. She cared for me as a whole and treated me like family. Her warm heart and patient-centered care kept me feeling calm, cared for, and in the best hands during one of the scariest days of my life.
Significant Difference: Rachel has changed how I view being sick. She showed me with high standards of care, being sick can be less scary when you are cared for by the right person. My husband and I talk about her outstanding care during a very scary time in my life. She made what could have been a scary unknown time in my life, a very pleasant experience. She cared for me as a whole. She saw how upset I was and made it her goal to make me not only feel cared for, but went above and beyond to assure every aspect of my care was thoroughly explained and that I was comfortable. The YNHH SRC ED would be my first choice of care in an emergent situation, and being able to be cared for by Rachel would be any patient's dream!
