After giving birth to a baby boy, I was moved to the postpartum department (couplet care). While being in couplet care, not only were my baby and I were taken care of but my boyfriend was as well. My nurse, Rachel, made our 4-day hospital stay in couplet absolutely amazing. Not only did she tend to the needs of the baby and me, but she went above and beyond to show she genuinely cares for her patients. My birthday was today and she is supposed to be in bed enjoying her day off. Instead, she set up a small surprise birthday party in my room. She got my dad and family here to the hospital within 30 minutes. She had a cake, balloons, a banner, and a small pinata in my room to surprise me with. ALL ON HER DAY OFF!! It makes a difference when you have a nurse who genuinely cares for you. Rachel took care of my baby like he was her very own. Rachel is not only an outstanding nurse but an outstanding woman. You can tell the difference when someone genuinely loves their job, it is not so much of a job to them as it is a passion.
