Raquel listened, gave a hug, and tried to encourage me in a way other nurses hadn't. That very small gesture of listening to someone without interruption made such an impactful impression.
I have been in and out of the hospital on and off since Dec 2019. During those visits, I have had numerous nurses, all of whom we pleasant and very good at their jobs. However, during my recent stay, Raquel just gave that little extra personal attention. I never had to call for my medication. She came in on time and checked on me in between those times. So I didn't just see her when a medication was due. That has been a first. I felt that was such a great touch. Just to ask if I needed a pillow or blanket. I had a couple of moments where I was frustrated with being sick. Most nurses acknowledge you but reiterate what the doctors are saying. Raquel mostly listened. She allowed me to get it out. She was empathetic and sympathetic to how I was feeling. She didn't attempt to rush me through it or make me feel like she other patients to attend to. She listened, gave a hug, and tried to encourage me in a way other nurses hadn't. That very small gesture of listening to someone without interruption made such an impactful impression. She is an asset to your organization. She recognizes her patients' physical and emotional pain and she lets them know that they are being heard, seen and we are going to help you. She made me have more confidence in the treatment plan that doctors were attempting.
Thank you, Raquel!
