Ramona Magalski, RN
Ms Magalski is an RN who always goes the extra mile for the patients in the Department of Family Medicine as a Telephone Advice Nurse. She has been a telephone advice nurse with our clinic for 6 years. Her dedication to our beneficiaries is exemplary and she often stays late or work through lunch helping patients. Ms Magalski has made a difference in the lives of our patients, assisting them with difficult issues that take time to sort out making follow up calls to ensure satisfaction and continuity of care.
During this past fiscal year to date, she has fielded over 3000 telephone patient encounters triaging patient for acute care, home care and health advice. Her dedication to selfless service makes her an asset to the department and to Brooke Army Medical Center. She is dependable and responsible and always complete and exceeds her task requirements. She has stepped in an acted as Lead Telephone Triage Nurse during supervisor absences, managing acute access to care within the clinic and using every available resource to prevent deferring patients out for acute care, always cognizant of the cost fir deferrals to the medical treatment facility.
Ms Magalski also trained nurses from the Schertz Clinic Medical Home, sharing best practices and telephonic procedures while they build their program for the Patient Centered Medical Home.
Ms Magalski never says “ that’s not my job” but instead goes out of her way to help any beneficiary that calls for assistance with respect and sensitivity even if they are not enrolled to the Family Medicine Service Clinic. She has an excellent knowledge of the Humana Health Care system and is able to pass on this knowledge to staff and patients alike. Her positive attitude and caring is exhibited by the smile in her voice on the telephone and her ability to make every patient feel special.
