Randy came to this unit after it had been open for about a year and a half as our manager. We didn't have much stuff and had been through 2 managers and 1 interim manager while they searched for a replacement. When he became the manager, he immediately began recruiting staff and reorganizing the unit. Within a month, we were functioning as a cohesive team. Not only did he help get our unit to a more stable position, but he also goes above and beyond to help his staff.

He checks in with each staff member before leaving for the day to make sure they aren't in need of anything before he goes. He has also helped out on the unit when other nurses were busy and came in on a night shift when staffing was short. He is incredibly personable with all of the patients and frequently rounds to see how their hospital experience is going. He is very approachable for staff members as well and does everything in his power to assist with any problems or concerns they may have.
