May 2020 Honoree
raphael manalo, RN
In December, a shooting occurred at a kosher grocery store located in Jersey City where one of our Visiting Nurses was attending to a patient nearby. Raphael Manalo a case manager on team B65 was seeing a patient in the area and stayed with the patient through the entire ordeal. The streets were closed and Raphael could hear the gunshots and commotion outside of the patient's window. Raphael administered care and stayed with the patient and family until the police permitted him to leave. He assured the patient was safe and offered him emotional support. He exemplifies the meaning of being a Visiting Nurse who is confident yet compassionate and willing to go the extra mile to assure his patients are well taken care of and safe in their homes.
Thank you, Raphael, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
