As a former RN House Supervisor for Novant, I had the luck to get Rashauna as my nurse. From the minute we met she was knowledgeable and kind and soft-spoken. One night I was tearful, scared, and just unable to cope. She came to the side of my bed, sat, and gently sang to me. I will never forget this act of compassion. She has a magic way of instantly making you feel that it will be ok. Aside from the amazing nursing care, she, I believe, is what Florence Nightengale would expect a nurse to be. Even when I was not her patient she would stop in to check on me. I felt comfort, love, safety, kindness, and compassion. She opened herself to share and bond over our commonalities. This morning at 5 am I ran into her in the hall greeted by her smile, love, and a big hug as I hope to go home today.

Watching her interact with the staff - beautiful. Always there with a smile. I would walk the halls later in my stay and would hear her with another patient and she is the real deal. Novant needs more nurses like her. Excellent, knowledgeable, loving, professional, and all-around - a beautiful soul.

My family has had 2 deaths, almost lost my mom 5 times last year with a 24-week admission at another local hospital. Never did I ever encounter anyone like her. Our journey started in January and I have had a TBI in addition to so many hospital trips, encounters, and admissions. I was not the sickest but the toll of last year has been overwhelming. She is the one person who I felt treated the entire family along with treating me. I would do anything for her. She is the BEST!
