I just keep on shaking my hands...He immediately gave me a stress ball for me to squeeze during the entire procedure.
I was scheduled for LASIK on both eyes last March and this is the first time I will have a procedure except for the time I gave birth to my son. Being a patient is so scary. It is different when you are the one rendering the care because you know what to expect. I was so nervous and I felt the coldness in every inch of my body. But here comes nurse Ray Jan, he greeted me with a smile, I could tell even though he was wearing a mask. His eyes showed it. I felt the warm welcome and somehow a reassurance that everything will be okay. He carefully assisted me in the screening area and explained the procedures and what I should expect. From taking the vital signs to screening my visual acuity. That Tono puff is really scary. Then he ushered me to the procedure room. In that room, I never spoke a single word, I just keep on shaking my hands, yes that’s me being anxious. And it’s like he read my mind. He immediately gave me a stress ball for me to squeeze during the entire procedure. I admired his gesture, it just shows he’s paying attention to what I need. He has a clinical eye and can sense my needs. After the procedure, I wasn’t able to see since everything is blurred. He offered his help and dialed the number of my husband so my husband can take me home. I just really want to thank him for his impressive assessment of me. A small detail can be as important as a big one.
