Raymond
Luchini
,
RN
Med/Surg 3200
Johnston Memorial Hospital
Ray always puts his patients first, he advocates for his patients, and is not satisfied with anything less than what is absolutely the best.
Ray is a tremendous asset to our team at Johnston Memorial Hospital / Ballad Health, but especially so to our unit and our patients. Ray is also a full-time student and dedicates himself to the care of his patients.
He serves as Charge Nurse on our unit and demonstrates a level of professionalism that only comes with many years of practice. He always puts his patients first, he advocates for his patients, and is not satisfied with anything less than what is absolutely the best.
He recently had a patient who needed convalescent plasma and it had been delayed because of a computer/order glitch. He called his nurse manager and said, "this was ordered overnight, and we need to give this but I can't get the order in the computer to release the blood product." We involved the admin team to work with IT but it was Ray that asked "can we use a downtime form until it is corrected in the computer?" This was a simple solution and he took the time to alert everyone necessary but also put his patient's needs first while the bigger issue was being dealt with behind the scenes.
There are many more "stories" to be told about Ray but the long and short of it all is he cares for his patients and it shows in everything he does.
Note: This is Ray's 2nd DAISY Award!
