Over the years I have watched Rebecca grow into an amazing nurse here at San Antonio Regional Hospital. I believe all of our nurses here are amazing and most go above and beyond to care for all of our patients. What sets Rebecca apart is the depth she will go to ensure her patients are cared for, from the minute they arrive in the department to the minute they leave.

It is not unusual for Rebecca to call patients to make sure they have received their follow-up supplies to care for their newly placed drains. She has even called outside services to assist patients who feel alone in managing their care. I have heard Rebecca place phone calls for patients who are struggling to get their doctors to see them for follow-up care on procedures they have recently done in Interventional Radiology (IR). Rebecca has taken the time to make sure each and every patient feels comfortable and informed while in her care in IR and out on the patient floors.

Her compassion for all patients is a quality that makes her go above and beyond each and every day. That same compassion she has, she also shows to her co-workers and she always goes the extra mile to make sure they all feel supported. In fact, there was one night a co-worker fell ill and she jumped right in to help cover the call shift along with another co-worker so we didn’t have to shut down the IR room and send our patients elsewhere for care. She didn’t hesitate because she knows the best care for our patients, once again, here at San Antonio. For all of these reasons, Rebecca is a DAISY Nurse.
