My husband had his left upper lobe of his lung removed, which was noted to be cancer. We resided in ICU for 8 full days. Our care was wonderful! I myself am a recovering alcoholic and I was becoming anxious for an ongoing meeting. Being here day and night I wasn't able to fulfill that with my usual group. So I asked his attending nurse if she could look up a list of meetings here in Topeka. She came with a brochure of every day's listings and times in this city. Along with it was this note, "Good for you for reaching out to find a meeting. Your hard work and dedication to your sobriety are commendable." I went out to the attending nurse and was ready to hug her and say thank you, which I did. She read this note and said it was not her, but her boss in the office. I went to see her and she was gone. The nurse gave me this DAISY Award nomination and I'm so pleased to fill it out. What a beautiful gift for me in such a stressful time. Her kind words of encouragement hit my heart warmly. Thank you, Rhonda Palmer! You made my day. I have been to many Topeka meetings because of you!

Thank you, Rhonda, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
