I would like to nominate my nurse Rich Knips for coming to see me every time he was working when my family would not. Each time he came in with my drink of choice, Diet Coke, in hand and then asked what I felt like listening to today. He always put on a concert with music I adore, like Journey. Then he washed and styled my hair. He always made me feel good about myself, given my situation. I felt alive.
One day, Rich came in and gave me a full manicure, cutting my cuticles and painting my nails my favorite color. Things I have not been able to do myself since I have been bed bound. He did things like this for me every time he was working, and he was so meticulous about it making sure it was perfect and done with love. He truly made me feel good about myself and cared for on another level.
To Rich, I would like to say thank you for always making me feel so special and cared for. You were truly the best part of my day whenever you were around. Thank you for all you did for me and putting a smile on my face.
