Rikki purchased flowers and had them delivered to his room. She also coordinated the use of the hospital chapel so that he, his wife, and his children could have some private time together.
Rikki is a Random Act of Kindness (RAK), Nurse! I greatly appreciate the numerous times I personally witnessed her providing and/or facilitating random acts of kindness. She makes a very positive difference in the lives of our patients and their family members, as well as her peers. Rikki helps lead a team of hard-working, cohesive, and collaborative nurses and patient care techs on 2 South.
2 South is challenging on its best and calmest days. Rikki has the unique and wonderful ability to remain calm and composed and to nurture her team through every clinical crisis. Recently, we had a patient and his wife who wanted to renew their wedding vows. Sadly, the patient was dying and his death was imminent. Rikki purchased flowers and had them delivered to his room. She also coordinated the use of the hospital chapel so that he, his wife, and his children could have some private time together. The patient and his family were all tearful with gratitude.
For every petal on a daisy, there is a story to share of Rikki's kindness and compassion. She is an amazing woman and a most magnificent and exemplary nurse. I am so honored to work with her!
