Mr. Rodrigo Loza, RN is the education resource for his colleagues in our emergency department. He has gone above and beyond to provide innovative methods to help staff grow. He uses case studies to improve critical thinking and daily certification review questions to stretch staff knowledge and prepare them for their CEN exam. He is always a physical resource for staff dealing with complicated patients and manages the orientation of all new staff. He has frequently extended himself to other groups of nurses to facilitate training; for example, he has presented to the new RN residency program regarding ER nursing roles. I have had the pleasure to collaborate with him with the new RN residents as well as the continuing education program. He has also created and run a simulation on cardiac arrest to allow staff to practice roles and interventions utilizing the AHA guidelines. He is active in continuing education programs for general staff and has presented in the inter-disciplinary grand rounds program with colleagues on a relevant case study. His enthusiasm and love of teaching are calming for staff and infectious. He is an overall asset to the facility and a pleasure to work with.
