Roland's clinical skill and compassionate care exemplify the kind of nurse that our patients, families, and staff recognize as an outstanding role model. I have known Roland since starting as a pulmonary fellow at CHLA and he always facilitates forward movement and exceptional care in the clinic.

For example, one time I had a family with a child with a new clinical diagnosis requiring lots of teaching for airways clearance machines. The grandmother, who spent the most time with the patient and speaks exclusively Mandarin, was not instructed how to use these devices and Roland made a plan to have a follow up visit with just a respiratory therapist and an interpreter to ensure she knew how to use the devices.

Roland is consistently surveilling the clinic and finding out ways to make it run more efficiently and provide better care to patients. He has a positive attitude and has always been a bright spot in my day. I am extremely grateful to the efforts Roland puts into clinic and I am thankful he is part of the CHLA Pulmonary team. He is bright and talented and very deserving of the best.
