She is a real jewel and really knows her business and how to reassure a patient in distress.
This entire staff was wonderful, from the nurses to the customer service person (who knew a hospital had such a thing!) to the food service and blood drawers and others – all of them, all of the time, full stop. In particular, the charge nurse, whose name I can't remember but whose face and comforting style I will not forget, was especially worthy of this award. One afternoon, after my surgery, I suddenly became short of breath, which is scary enough, but I also had aches and was extremely cold. It was very upsetting to me and scary, and it even made me, a grown man of 68, cry. This charge nurse rushed in to help and wired me up for an EKG, etc. My God, what a comforting nurse. She kept assuring me over and over that I would be ok, and saying, "we got you," and "we will take care of you," and "I promise we will take care of this, and you will be ok." She was so reassuring in the way she said it and the way she placed her hand on my shoulder – it was just so comforting, it's hard to describe. She is a real jewel and really knows her business and how to reassure a patient in distress. She deserves to be a "boss" 10,000 percent. The whole time I was there, the entire staff was 100 percent on point. No wonder Hopkins is one of the best hospitals. You have an excellent ability to find good staff members. To top it all off, this charge nurse even stopped by on her way out at 7 P.M. the next day to see how I was doing. Outstanding. Your people make the difference. Thank you, 10 West!
