I would like to nominate Ruby Hughes who has been a dedicated and loyal nurse to Seton Southwest for the last 17 years. Starting out as an LVN and then expanding to an RN role, Charge RN, Educator, House Supervisor, and currently the Clinical Manager of ED and PCU. Ruby has supported her teams and the site as a whole through thick and thin, joyous and painful times. She is a problem solver, always taking the initiative and responding to the needs of associates, patients, peers, and physicians.
Ruby frequently goes above and beyond to get things done, jump into patient care, problem solve a process or piece of equipment and partner up with anyone in the building that needs support. Ruby is highly reliable both in her leadership and follows through but it is also demonstrated in her team's performance to reach goals and outcomes many times exceeding national standards. In addition, she has contributed to the entire network in roles such as Congress Chair.
Ruby has a mindset of continual learning and how she might add to her skill set and knowledge base. She is currently enrolled to begin work on a Master's Degree in Jan 2018. It has been a pleasure working with Ruby and I am always confident and comfortable when she takes call for me during an absence.
Leaders like Ruby give the staff the support they need to provide that compassionate personal care with dignity during a medical emergency or stay in the hospital. The kind of care the DAISY Award was founded on.
Congratulations Ruby!
