It’s usually very difficult to talk to anyone about my disorder, however, Rudley made it possible to do so. He demonstrated a genuine concern to help me get to a better place of wellness.
Rudley brings a unique set of skills that are definitely an asset to his team on the unit. His gentle, calm, and soft-spoken spirit makes him very approachable. On my first night on the unit, I stood at the nurses' station, nervous and unsure of what to do. Though Nurse Rudley was not assigned to me as my nurse, he eased me by introducing himself and asking me if there was anything he could do to help me. I expressed my need for a sweat suit and the very next morning it was there for me. Nurse Miland is a nurse that you can depend on to get your needs met as quickly as possible. I believe that his time management skills are the key to his ability to care for his patients efficiently. He exemplifies the epitome of professionalism, yet his compassionate and caring disposition is always his first priority.

Nurse Miland and I developed a special connection from the first day we met. It’s usually very difficult to talk to anyone about my disorder, however, Rudley made it possible to do so. He demonstrated a genuine concern to help me get to a better place of wellness. He has excellent listening skills and has the mentality of a “thinker”, not to mention his ability to problem solve.

Rudley noticed one evening that I seemed upset about something and asked me if I wanted to talk about it. I informed him about my situation and he listened with compassion and understanding. As a result of his efforts, he taught me a new skill that I can use going forward in coping with my bipolar disorder. I can’t think of anyone else on this unit that is more deserving of the DAISY Award than Nurse Rudley Miland.
