Ryan always seemed to go above and beyond what was expected of him while my mom was still here. He would engage in conversation with me while tending to my mom's needs and always took the extra time to ensure my mom's comfort before leaving the room. Ryan always made me feel like my mom was not just another patient, but that he genuinely cared about her. Even at the end of her life, Ryan took the effort to summon other nurses to come to her room and thank her for her many years of service in hospice care. Ryan stayed in the room and held my mom's hand while assuring consistent comfort until she left us.
Ryan told us after the DAISY Celebration that he had been praying for confirmation and direction in his career. He feels like he was given a clear answer to his prayers when he received the DAISY Award.
