Samar is the definition of what a great nurse is supposed to be, attentive, caring, giving, compassionate, and tough. From the first day she started caring for my husband, she has not stopped supporting him. As we have moved around different units at the hospital, Samar has in my mind, made it a priority to check up on him to see how his progress is going. This brought so much comfort to me to know that someone cares about my husband. That she is taking care of him not just as a patient but as a whole person. At times when my husband would feel discouraged, Samar would step in and bring his confidence back by showing him compassion, and listening to him, and when he needed it, she would give him a tough pep talk, and this would motivate my husband to get up and do what he was supposed to do. When an issue arises with his health, Samar took the time to evaluate the situation and suggest a diagnostic test that helped address the situation and worked to help find a resolution to the problem. She did not pass him off. She did not stop until we had an answer, and the problem was addressed. Samar took the time to learn that a simple cup of coffee would warm my husband's spirits, so she would make sure he had his cup. I have yet to meet another nurse who is as amazing as Samar. I believe she embodies what a great nurse is supposed to be. She is a true DAISY Nurse.
