Sarah was nominated by a patient's family:
First of all, all of the RNs who have helped our daughter for the past 12 days have been terrific, but Sarah's care and compassion was just amazing. She was technically/medically always on top of my daughter's condition and worked with the entire team of doctors, RNs, RTs and our family to provide incredibly competent care with an outgoing and reassuring manner.
She did all of the little things right - updating the daily white board, gel/wash every time, gloves, linen changes, the list goes on. The reason this is so important to a parent is that when we see all of the little things being done right, it gives us so much more confidence that the "big things" are also being done right. That is a hugely comforting feeling to have when your child is in the PICU!
Sarah's attention to our daughter's personal care and comfort was remarkable. She tended to all of her basic medical needs, but to take the extra time to braid her hair, hold her hand and talk to her...we were just amazed that anyone could be so kind and caring. Thank you Sarah!
