She does not remember her time in a coma but her family remembers the compassion shown to us by Sarah.
My 59-year-old mother was a patient of Sarah after she went through a sudden cardiac arrest. Our nurse helped put her in a hypothermic coma and provided excellent care for her the whole time. Not only did she make sure that my mom was perfectly taken care of she also helped my dad and me understand what was happening. My dad and I were very scared for my mom and felt nervous every time a monitor started alarming. Of course, there were so many alarms to go off! Not only did she help adjust my mom to make sure that everything was working properly she also took the time to explain to us why the alarm went off and how she fixed it. When there was an issue with the hypothermic cooling device that my mom was on she went and got all sorts of hospital staff to look at it and make adjustments. When her monitors beeped due to positional reasons she readjusted the position instead of just assuring us that it was fine and to ignore it. When Sarah C. was on shift we knew that my mom was well taken care of. Today my mom is back to her old life and has recovered. She does not remember her time in a coma but her family remembers the compassion shown to us by Sarah. I don't think she would have had such a successful outcome without the exceptional care she received.
