I would like to nominate Sasha Horstman, RN, a compassionate nurse, for the DAISY Award. She demonstrates kindness and compassion for the patients she cares for. She has a huge heart and feels what the patient feels. Working with her is REWARDING. She is a problem solver by nature and does a remarkable job at the bedside. She creates an environment of trust and mutual respect between staff and her patients.

When I say that this nurse feels what the patient does, I recall one event not long ago when she became sad when the patient was displaying obvious signs of sadness. This little girl was crying with her father by her side, and the nurse teared up with her. The power of touch, the power of caring, the power to feel!

Her leadership skills are outstanding, and she chooses her words wisely when she wants to get the point across. She has impacted nursing, ambulance staff and has great ability to precept nursing students. She has many years to shine. I would like you to consider Sasha Horstman, RN for this award.
