Shanae consistently demonstrates and delivers outstanding care to the patients in her care. Recently a patient on 2 Parrish was placed on the schedule for a surgical procedure. Shanae was not made aware the patient was scheduled for surgery until she was called up to receive report. She gave a complete and perfect report using SBAR.
In the time between giving report and arrival to transport the patient to the OR (approximately 15 minutes), Shanae had given the patient a complete surgical bed bath, changed the bed lines, flushed both IV's, disconnected the patient's tubing, maintained and emptied the fecal drain, emptied the indwelling urinary catheter drain, AND contacted the patient's wife to make certain she was aware the patient was going to surgery! During COVID-19, keeping the family members abreast of POC is extremely important; members of her team were amazed at Shanae's time management as well as her professionalism in handling this case.
Shanae demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, outstanding communication with ancillary departments, and a superior focus on meeting the patient and family concerns. Shanae is an outstanding role model. She has been observed over and over and over again, delivering excellent and compassionate care!
