Shane was one of my daughter's nurses during a long stay. My daughter was very sick when she arrived. There were a lot of things I was scared and confused about, and Shane wasted no time trying to explain things. He is such a genuine, compassionate, and caring person toward his patients and their families. His nursing skills and the care he provided was above and beyond.
One example of his heart for his patients will forever stand out to me. My daughter being 44 years old gets frustrated because she can't raise her legs to get on the bed at times. Shane was there assisting one night when this happened and witnessed her hysterically crying. He immediately stopped her and let her know it would be ok because he was there with her. As a mother watching her child struggling, that meant so much. Another great quality of his is his leadership skills was portrayed that night.
During our stay, I also got a chance to observe his extraordinary leadership skills as he was training someone. He was very thorough and patient with her as they went through the routine together. I witnessed him first explain things to her and then let her do it herself to provide her thorough knowledge of the job taking details seriously. Although I was greatly impressed with some of the other staff, Shane Jackson definitely stands out above all the others.
Thank you for taking such good care of my daughter but most of all thank you for being such an amazing nurse that impacts more people than you will ever know and being such an amazing person with a true heart. Thank you for allowing me to nominate such an amazing young man. Your hospital is extremely blessed to have a nurse like Shane Jackson.

Shane worked as my nurse for several days when I was there. I was very scared as I was admitted with adrenal crisis, kidney failure, sepsis, and Congestive heart failure, pneumonia, and just extremely sick. I had been in the hospital several times since October with severe health issues. I couldn't stand, walk, or do anything for myself as I had lost muscle laying in the hospital for so long. Shane was right there explaining things my mother and I didn't understand no matter how long it took or how many times I asked him (forgot to mention that I recently went through cancer treatment and have chemo fog.) I would be sitting on the side of bed vomiting and he stood right there making sure I was ok no matter how long it took.
One example I will never forget is when I was trying to get back in bed and the nurses helping couldn't get me up, so they called for Shane. There were 4 nurses standing around my bed and my worn down, worried mother at the end. I couldn't pick my legs up and put them on the bed and got extremely frustrated and started crying. Shane was up by my head and put his hand on mine and looked at me and calmly said, "It's okay, we're all right here doing it with you, and we got you." It instantly calmed me down.
Another thing that stood out was when we asked him why he didn't think about becoming a doctor and he said that he liked being hands-on with his patients. He was so very compassionate during my stay and I will never forget his care.
