Shane is an amazing advocate for his patients. One patient Shane was overseeing came into the hospital terminally ill. He was there every step of the way by cell phone and in person assisting the family and patient in any way he could. As the patient's condition worsened, Shane came in on the weekend to assist the family and the beside nurse through the painful process of withdrawing care. He also contacted an agency to help the family get all expenses paid for a funeral. Shane goes above and beyond for the people he serves. He serves selflessly even when it means coming in on the weekend. I feel very grateful that he is a nurse at St. Francis and that he was involved with care of that patient.
