Shannon is an excellent example of an outstanding nurse and leader, working primarily as weekend charge on the evening shift. She is a compassionate and very knowledgeable mentor, and is always willing to help others. Shannon shines as a very strong patient advocate. Numerous times over the years, I have come to Shannon with my concerns regarding patients who struggle in physical therapy due to an array of issues: severe pain, nausea, dizziness, light-headedness, fatigue, syncope episodes, etc. Shannon always takes the time to listen to my concerns. Then Shannon, "Ace Detective," leaps into action, reviewing the patient's labs, medications, medical history, allergies, manner, and advocating for the patient in an effort to find ways to provide the best care possible. Shannon has earned the respect of medical providers and co-workers. We greatly appreciate Shannon's critical thinking skills, knowledge, responsiveness, and actions that lend to successful patient outcomes. She remains calm with a positive attitude as she resolves challenging situations. Shannon demonstrates all the best of what a Sanford nurse can be in the way she works through challenges: showing courage, passion, resolve and a positive attitude. The patient always comes first. I truly appreciate and value her leadership on 4C. Hats off to an extraordinary nurse who goes above and beyond!
