Shannon was the recipient of the 3rd Quarter DAISY Award for her lifesaving skills during a neonatal emergency. She was nominated by the father of a baby in the NICU who stated, "What I came to understand is signs and symptoms can be very subtle. A layperson could be easily misled if professionals didn't have the right priorities and skillsets." He also noted the genuine compassion and support from Shannon saying, "We felt genuinely cared for." The education and communication that Shannon provided helped the family to understand and cope with the complexity of their son's condition and they will be forever grateful for Shannon and the skillful team in the NICU.
