Shannon has been doing a great job as a nurse. She was my first nurse when I go out of the OR. I was in terrible pain and she was so patient with me.

Shannon is frequently recognized by her patients for her excellent patient care, her patience, her kindness, and her compassion. Shannon is a fluent Spanish speaker and she is able to communicate more effectively with our Spanish-speaking patients. This brings them at ease and more comfortable delivering at Mercy.
Shannon has accepted additional responsibilities in our department be being a safety coach, a preceptor, and being charge nurse. She is a member of our Iowa maternal Quality Care Collaborative to reduce primary cesarean rates at Mercy. She developed tools to educate our patients on Family-Centered Cesarean Birth in English and Spanish. She is a positive team member. She has a smile on her face, accepts challenges, and is a joy to work with. Shannon is a wonderful nurse. She is hard-working, completely deals with emergency situations, and has great critical thinking skills. She is a patient advocate and approaches difficult situations with empathy. We are so blessed to have Shannon as a member of our Mercy Maternity staff.
