When you see Shauna is the charge nurse, you know that you and all your patients are in safe hands. She will advocate for her patients no matter how difficult or inconvenient the situation. The specific situation I am thinking of (but there are many) was a day when she was working and there were a handful of patients with many wounds and pressure injuries. She went around to all of the rooms and ensured they were placed in alternating pressure beds and she gave them all baths or got them up to the chair.

As simple as it is to just type all of that, it was not a simple situation as they required using mechanical lifts and the patients had many wounds to dress up. She went above and beyond to even make sure their hair was done and provided extra little tidbits that the specific patients needed. It would be impressive if this was a standalone occurrence, but it is not. There have been many shifts in which she has done this sort of thing, not to mention the many specific things she does for patients on any occasion. She is a great leader - one that makes each nurse on the unit want to work harder and do better for their patients. She is a nurse you would want to take care of your family.
