When I came in the first time, Shawn was my nurse and got my vitals. He was also the one who started my first IV. He was a huge help. He kept my family in a calm sense and had the best and quickest judgment. Shawn remained cool and collected in the awkward situations (mad parents, upset or crying patient, giving IV in the first place). When the time came to give the IV, he got it the first try and I didn't feel a thing.

Shawn is by far the best nurse in the hospital and deserves this award (in my opinion) more than anyone in the whole world. I have almost enjoyed being here (if that was possible) simply because he started this off right and took good care of me. Although I am 12, I am still deathly afraid of needles due to past experiences. Shawn, however, managed to get me calmed down, which is a pretty difficult task. I know that I cannot pick and choose who is my nurse, but if I could, Shawn would most definitely be my first choice.

I really like Shawn as my nurse because he cares about me and my family. He asked multiple times if he could help us in any way. He also kept us updated on what was most likely going to happen. I do not like being away from all the fun of being outside, but it is a little fun at least if you get a good nurse. Shawn really enjoys his job and you can tell. He works extremely hard and he does a lot. He is as good as it gets as far as I am concerned.
