My son was admitted to 9 Harbert for Pyloric stenosis. This was supposed to be an easy fix. One simple surgery and we would go home in two days. But two days turned into three weeks due to complications. This was by far the scariest experience I have ever gone through. I don't think I could have made it without the support of one of the nurses. She sat with me as I cried feeling helpless as my son was NPO for seven days. Listening to my son cry for hours on end was terrible, but she still managed to make us laugh through the tears. She explained the things I didn't understand that were going on with him. When she realized he was on TPN/Lipids with no lab work ordered, she immediately called the doctor and requested they get them. She talked me through everything that was going on. She helped me feel as though I wasn't alone. She became my voice when I felt like I was not being heard. I am so blessed to have met her when l did. I truly believe Jesus put her here to help me in my hardest times. I feel she was put in my path. She is truly our angel. We will be forever grateful we met her.
