My wife was in poor health when she was brought to Roanoke Memorial from another hospital. When Shelly started her shift, she worked with my wife and took the time to explain things to me so I could understand and explain them to other family members. Shelly helped me to understand things so I could make the hard and painful decisions that I had to make for my wife. This wonderful nurse showed compassion beyond her call of duty by helping me talk to my two daughters about what was going on with their mother and explained the bleak outlook for her. She heard my oldest talk about not being able to do anything to save her mom even with her EMT training. Shelly told her she could not think like that and what happened to her mom had nothing to do with her. Shelly was such a comfort and help to our family during this awful time.
