During my stay on the MAP unit, I couldn't feel but blessed to have been taken care of by such a compassionate nurse. After having a major surgery that called for an NG tube for 12 hours after, that I continually wanted to rip out myself and wasn't afraid to let everyone know, Sheyenne was there to comfort me, talk to me, and listen to me. And this isn't just about me, I have never had a surgery before, and I am the baby of the family. You already know the nervousness my mom was experiencing while she stayed with me overnight, every little move I made she was concerned. Sheyenne did an amazing job comforting my mom as well making sure that she had everything she needed/wanted and assured her that I was doing great.
One major thing that sticks out to me is at one point I couldn't help but cry, I hated that tube and I wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. Sheyenne felt so helpless, there was nothing she could do and I knew that. She shed a few tears because she felt so helpless. And that stuck out to me and will forever, she showed so much compassion for me and she wanted to do everything to help me and make me comfortable!

My Daughter was admitted with splenic infarctions and liver issues which caused her extreme pain. Several days into the stay the doctors still were not sure what was causing the problems and my daughter wasn't getting any better. Needless to say, my daughter and I were extremely scared, confused, and upset that we had no idea what was causing the problem.
The only positive during our stay was Sheyenne. She was so understanding, compassionate, and reassuring that they would find the problem and my daughter would be okay. She never made us feel like we were inconveniencing her no matter how many times we push the call light. Sheyenne made us feel like a family member to her. Aspirus Hospital is blessed to have an employee like her!
