Sierra is an exceptional nursing student, and she will be an exceptional Nurse. One thing that stands out about Sierra is that she advocates for herself and takes every opportunity to learn.

On the first day I met Sierra, she impressed me with her professionalism in addressing concerns she had about starting the nursing program and told me her needs. I feel that by being able to advocate for yourself, you are better able to advocate for your patient, and she did a great job advocating for her assigned clinical patients. She diligently prepared for the challenges of the clinical patients and shared her learning with her peers. She has an exceptional bedside manner and always had/has her patients at the forefront of her mind.

Sierra is courageous and asks questions when she sees something being done that isn’t quite right. She can respectfully provide feedback. She also has this zest for learning. I don’t think in all my years of teaching that I’ve seen eyes light up so brightly when learning something new, and the way she can explain her understanding so that others may learn from her is just a sight to see and hear her explain it. She has such a caring demeanor with her patients as well that you can see she can empathize with what the patient is going through. All around, she’s just a great nursing student. She sees the patient from head to toe and everything in between and just wants to help them meet their goals. She has inspired me to emulate her character and has renewed my spark in teaching!
