I would like to acknowledge Simone for the outstanding care she provided in Surgicare. The patient had just suffered a miscarriage and presented for a D&C procedure. From the moment she came down to the floor, Simone not only helped me with a process that I had never experienced in my nursing career, but she was also unbelievably compassionate and kind to the patient and family in a time of grief. Simone was able to help with the arrangements for the baby to go to the funeral home of the family's choice. She also took the time to call the chaplain and together they blessed the baby. Additionally, Simone captured a little footprint keepsake for the family. I will never forget the look on the patient and husband's faces when they were handed the copy of the footprints. They were so thankful to have a keepsake that they will forever have in honor of their unborn daughter. Simone, the family, and I all stood there holding hands and cried. Simone said all the right words with strength and compassion. I will always remember the beautiful care that she provided to the family, and I am forever thankful that she helped in such a difficult situation. SwedishAmerican is truly lucky to have a role model nurse like Simone. I hope to someday be as good of a nurse as she is.

My son was born with Trisomy 13 and passed away shortly after birth. It was the most difficult time of my life, but I will always remember Simone and the compassionate, dedicated care that she provided. She was more than just an employee doing her job. She was a shoulder to cry on and a sense of support for my whole family. She helped make a tragedy feel bearable, and she will always be remembered and appreciated for it!
