Over the past 3-4 months, I discovered several drawings in patient rooms during my rounds. These drawings were detailed depictions of different cardiac conditions and procedures specific to that patient. When I asked the patients about the drawings, they all said “Simran drew them for me!” I asked several of these patients to describe how the drawings affected them, and the common thread was, “I now understand what is going on in my body!” Each patient described a scenario where the interdisciplinary team had described an arrhythmia they had or a cardiac procedure they needed, and they couldn’t quite wrap their heads around it. They all stated that Simran swooped in and made sense of it all by taking the time to exhibit the drawings in their rooms. One patient even stated that he was able to text a picture to his family in Southern California and was able to re-iterate what the drawing showed. I commend Simran for consistently taking the extra time to creatively educate our patients about their conditions and treatment plans. Simran helped calm the worried minds of patients and their families.
