I honestly felt that Sophie fought for him too. It was a different feeling and experience with her. She listened, and she cared.
I just wanted to reach out about an ICU nurse at JSUMC. My dad was in the ICU and his nurse was Sophie. Although Dad was intubated and sedated, Sophie took great care of him and eased my mind since I was the one with him. She constantly checked on me when I was there asking if I needed anything or had any questions and she was so attentive and patient with Dad. My dad is blind in his left eye and wears hearing aids so she made sure to stay on his right side and lean in by his ear and spoke loud and clear to him. Dad didn't have to look at me to repeat what was said when Sophie was around. No one else has ever done that for Dad, ever.

Both of my parents have been in and out of the hospital due to their age and there have been some issues. I didn't like what happened, but Dad always made it out on top because I was his advocate and fought for him. I honestly felt that Sophie fought for him too. It was a different feeling and experience with her. She listened, and she cared. I know the other nurses do as well, but she went above and beyond.

When Dad was moved to the North West tower, I gave her such a big hug and thanked her so much and she hugged me back just as hard. No one in my family has been in the ICU, but if anyone had to again, I'd beg for her. She is a God send. She made an absolutely scary situation not as bad. And once Dad was breathing on his own and awake, he turned on his charm and she ate it all up (and let's be honest, he loved being fussed over and spoken sweetly to as well). Please thank Sophie again for me. I wish her nothing but the absolute best in everything.

Note: This is Sophie's 2nd DAISY Award!
