Stacey Smith is a wonderful example of the caring and compassion that is represented by the DAISY Award. She puts so much thought and planning into providing individualized care for her patients, ensuring that she is meeting the needs of each individual patient and their family. She is able to blend her previous life experiences with the things that she is learning in school to ensure that each family is cared for in a way that best suits their needs and expectations.

She has an empathy for them that is not something that can be taught but is so appreciated by each family that she interacts with. She also demonstrates compassion and caring for her fellow nursing students, acting as a tutor and mentor to give others the benefits of her experiences. All of these things are fabulous examples of the type of nurse that we should all strive to be. We are fortunate at The George Washington University School of Nursing that we can count her as one of our graduates.
