I receive my care at Madigan, and, long story short, I had an urgent, complex medical situation requiring a referral to the University of Washington. Despite multiple attempts, I was unable to obtain an appointment in a reasonable time frame. In the interim, Stacie and Dr. J kept in constant contact, addressing concerns, questions and pain management. Processes broke down at the University of Washington, and communication had completely deteriorated.
Stacie actually called them, coordinated records and diagnostic test results and also ensured I could get ongoing timely appointments. I was both frustrated and overwhelmed. She jumped in and said, "I'm going to take care of you," and personally called them! I think the normal responsibility would be to submit a referral and leave it to me to manage it, but Stacie went so far above and beyond what was her responsibility, and she did it with compassion, empathy, and dignity. She is truly a DAISY Nurse!
