Stacy goes above and beyond to ensure that every patient feels respected, valued, and understood regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression. She approaches each interaction with empathy, sensitivity, and an unwavering dedication to eliminating disparities in healthcare.
Stacy's exceptional dedication to promoting health equity for the LGBTQ+ community embodies the true spirit of compassionate nursing care. As a parent of a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Stacy has personally experienced the challenges and barriers to accessing affirming healthcare. Because of these challenges, Stacy has a personal mission to educate all healthcare workers, and she started right here in her home department. Her unwavering commitment to creating an inclusive and affirming environment for LGBTQ+ individuals is truly remarkable. Stacy goes above and beyond to ensure that every patient feels respected, valued, and understood regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression. She approaches each interaction with empathy, sensitivity, and an unwavering dedication to eliminating disparities in healthcare. One instance that stands out in my mind is when Stacy, in preparation for Pride month, dyed the ends of her long hair in rainbow colors. Unfortunately, at that time, this was in direct violation of our professional appearance policy. I vividly remember the difficult conversation with Stacy, informing her that even though I support her, I have a responsibility to enforce all our policies equally and fairly. In this instance, where it could have become a battle between the union and KP, Stacy took the high road. She professionally and eloquently addressed disparities in the policy and the reasons it should be changed to our MGA. I am happy to report that policy has been updated, and I am sure Stacy’s advocacy and education played a role in that change. Stacy consistently advocates for LGBTQ+ patients within the healthcare system, championing policies and practices that promote equity and inclusion. She is a vocal ally and resource for both patients and colleagues, leading educational initiatives and fostering a culture of acceptance and respect. In summary, Stacy exemplifies the values of empathy, advocacy, and inclusivity that are at the core of nursing excellence. Their commitment to advancing health equity for the LGBTQ+ community sets a standard of care that is truly exemplary and deserving of recognition.
