I have no doubt that Stephanie has changed the lives of countless patients she has served by giving them something to believe in and someone who sees their current worth.
Senior Care had a patient who was here on an extended stay. The family was doing everything they could to keep the patient at our facility. However, her treatment was complete, and there was no reason for her to stay. Staff had found her a safe place to stay multiple times but the family was making it impossible for them to live a happy normal life, outside of here. Stephanie had built a good rapport with her while she was here. Staff had once again coordinated her a safe temporary living situation, near her doctor and transportation was provided. When staff told the patient the plan ahead of time, she was so happy she was crying, hugging everyone and telling them how much she loved them for taking excellent care of her. On the scheduled day of her to be transported by the case manager, Stephanie Allan was off duty. Due to the relationship Stephanie had built with the patient, she felt led to come in on her day off and ride with the patient to Ft. Smith to make sure she had a familiar face, understood everything, and got settled into her new living arrangement. I feel as though Stephanie is deserving of this award and exemplifies all the criteria of a DAISY Nurse.

***

I have been employed as the discharge planner in senior care for 4 months. Very shortly after I was hired, Stephanie put me at ease. Not only was she supportive and encouraging, but she immediately gained my trust by providing me with constructive criticism. She told me what she thought I could do to better serve our patients and be a better co-worker. I have witnessed Stephanie work tirelessly to make sure her patients are heard. She never rushes through her rounds with them, actively listening to their medical concerns and hearing their stories, even if the stories are about Peter Rabbit or such. As the charge nurse, she is an excellent mentor to newer and less experienced staff. She presents herself in a professional manner and is a patient and accomplished teacher and leader. I have no doubt that Stephanie has changed the lives of countless patients she has served by giving them something to believe in and someone who sees their current worth. She never rushes through her communications with patients, family members, fellow nurses, physicians, administrators, or other co-workers. She blesses the lives of these people just like she has mine. On a unit like ours, unexpected things happen on a daily basis. It always seems like Stephanie expects them. She is so cool and collected and has a professional, loving attitude. Even when having feces smeared on her by a demented patient. Stephanie deserves to be recognized for the strength of her character and her loving nature.
