I was admitted to 5 St. Simons with a blood clot. I was totally unaware of this as I presented to SGHS with nausea, vomiting, and increased output, all of which was a very scary situation and I definitely experienced some anxiety with my diagnosis. I had the privilege of having Stephanie take care of me. She is the true definition of what a nurse should represent. She calmed my fears and always spoke with a sense of calmness and compassion when caring for me. When she was in my room, she was focused on my needs and not distracted by other things. I was treated as a person and not just another 'patient'. Stephanie exhibits the true qualities of a nurse through her caring, compassionate care that she passes to her patients.
