Steve Holmberg was on duty for all but one of the days when I was in the MICU, and I found him to be unfailingly attentive, caring, gentle and thoughtfully knowledgeable. His skill at inserting an NG tube (which had been done earlier before surgery with considerable difficulty by two other nurses), taking blood, administering medications, and generally making me as comfortable as possible was greatly appreciated. Several times he worked well beyond his shift time to care for me and complete his daily reports. Additionally, he was very skilled at translating "doctor speak" into terms that I could understand and consequently know my condition. While there were other nurses who provided outstanding care, it was Steve Holmberg who routinely went beyond the normal call of duty in providing care that allowed me to successfully overcome the complications that occurred during my stay.
